I have recently been reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I've really liked his writing style in the past and enjoyed other books by him but I'm having trouble getting into this one. I feel like I'm maybe missing the point so far. Does anyone have any discussion points/insight on it? If so, what did you like about it? This thread is archived New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast level 1 You should completely ignore Shadow, he's not important. The entire story is what goes on around him. Shadow is just the axis that the world spins on. level 2 That's an interesting way to do it. It's like the way we study the sun, put a disc in front of it... level 2 I think this is why, both times I've read the book, I didn't enjoy the last ~100 pages. As soon as Wednesday dies, I lose all interest in the book. Even though there are long stretches of the book where that character is absent, I was always reading with the anticipation of getting back to him. That was what kept me going.
